EXPLORING SCOTLAND ON TWO WHEELS

We are proudly Scottish and want to encourage more people to experience the incredible riding our country has to offer.

Here we share stories and routes from our wider Clan community plus contacts for our affiliated Guides & Coaches to inspire your next adventure.

Scottish routes

In our Scottish Routes series, hear first-hand stories from members of the Clan as they share personal connections to routes across the country.

The first in the series is the 'Rise and Grind', a mini morning adventure started by
Emily Greaves, that shows how a simple idea can build a long-lasting community.

The route takes you through the rugged terrain of Scotland's Glen Lednock, Comrie, and culminates on top of Standing Stone Hill.  .

The Rise and Grind is a free initiative and runs every Thursday morning. Find out more and download the route guide on the link below.

Guides & Coaches

With Deviate co-owners Ben Jones and Chris Deverson having also previously worked as guides, they know first hand how guided trips can forge lifelong friendships and a love for exploring the outdoors on two wheels.

If you want to explore some of Scotland’s most incredible trails or want to brush up on some skills, get in touch with our affiliated Guides & Coaches to ensure you get the most from your trip.

BE INSPIRED

McTrail Rider has a Youtube channel dedicated to discovering Scotland’s amazing biking destinations.
Within each of his videos he provides expert commentary to help you decide if it’s somewhere that you would like to visit yourself.
Here are a selection of some of our favourites but do follow him to discover more incredible rides throughout Scotland.

“Ever since I rode Ben Macdui and looked over at Braeriach, I had wanted to ride it. I had been waiting for some other people to join me for this one, but the weather was fantastic and I thought I had better just do it while I had that window open. Braeriach is the third highest mountain in the UK, and is where the river Dee begins its journey towards Aberdeen. The wells that are the source start almost at the very top of the mountain and are filtered through sand and rock, leading to what I believe to be some of the freshest water you can get in the country.”

“After what seemed like an eternity waiting, Scotland's newest trail centre is finally open to the public. It was 100% worth the wait though. I'm genuinely impressed with the job that's been done at Tarland and I truly believe that it's going to massively boost mountain biking in Aberdeenshire and beyond. “Well, the sun was out and the sky was blue, so it would have been rude not to try and go up a mountain. The mountain in question was Ben Lomond. Truly one of the best and most accessible Munro's in Scotland. Unfortunately, the snow and ice were a bit too much for me to consider going all the way to the top, but I did still manage to do a good bit of the descent and it was still very much worth the effort.”
