Inspired by the medieval Scottish two-handed great sword, known for its strength and symbolism of the rugged Highlands, Deviate’s Claymore embodies this legacy - crafted to conquer the world's most challenging terrains. Whether you're descending root-strewn drops or racing between tapes at dizzying speeds, the Claymore excels.
This long-travel high-pivot enduro bike has been given an injection of added playfulness with a reworked rear triangle, designed to accommodate a 27.5” wheel out back. The Claymore MX is the first mullet to be added to the Deviate range, with the Highlander II MX launching in the coming months.
WHY A REAR TRIANGLE NOT A LINK?
“We’ve found a balanced geometry for our bikes and keeping this consistent was fundamental to our approach. A link design puts the rear wheel in a different portion of the wheel path - therefore outside of the bounds of the optimal anti-squat - whilst a rear triangle switch allows us to keep the consistency whilst providing the added playfulness and manoeuvrability for those inside lines." - Chris Deverson, Deviate Co-owner & Lead Engineer

HIGH PIVOT: The Claymore MX utilises a high, single pivot point in its rear suspension system, resulting in a rearward axle path. This design allows the rear wheel to move proportionally rearward upon impact while maintaining forward momentum, delivering a sensation of speed and confidence over rough terrain unmatched by bikes with more rear wheel travel.
CABLE GUTTER: When it comes to cable management, internal cable routing is great for a sleek looking bike, yet, it does make the cables harder to access when changing parts or carrying out maintenance. Our solution to this is a cable ‘gutter’ that runs down the underside of the top-tube, designed to keep your cables tucked away and out of sight, whilst maintaining accessibility to the cables.
AXLE PATH: The rearward axle path moves the rear wheel away from impacts, taking the edge off angular hits, maintaining forward momentum.
IDLER PLACEMENT: Careful idler placement ensures optimal suspension performance, with a +100% anti-squat curve controlled by the idler position, virtually eliminating pedal kickback and bobbing. This design provides a balanced anti-squat curve, allowing the Claymore to pedal smoothly through rough terrain while maintaining active suspension.

No. You can retain the chains you are currently using for your 29er

No. The reason for a rear triangle versus a link approach was to retain the geometry of the 29er. We have developed the bikes with very specific geometry in mind and spent a lot of time testing to reach that geometry sweet spot. Therefore, when designing the mullet option, it was vital that this was retained which required a rear triangle versus a link approach

It is not about advantage or disadvantages but more about how you enjoy riding. For some, mullet setups feel more playful and lively especially around corners and off jumps. They can also provide more clearance which can be particularly beneficial for maneuverability on inside lines
